Please contact me at julia@softfallcounselling.com.au if you can't find an answer to your question.
You do not need a referral from a doctor to make an appointment with a counsellor. You can simply make an appointment directly using the Contact form, WhatsApp or by phone.
Throughout your counselling journey, you can expect a professional, responsive, and respectful service that is guided by your individual needs. Your first session will be different from future sessions. The initial appointment will focus on getting to know each other and establishing your counselling goals. Following sessions will be more therapeutic in nature and may involve exploring a specific symptom or problem raised in the first session. It's important to keep in mind that therapy can be very emotional and confronting and at times you may feel uncomfortable or tearful. This is a normal part of the counselling process.
All sessions are 50 minutes in duration. Consultations will start and finish at the appointed times. If you are late for an appointment this will reduce the time of your session so other clients are not inconvenienced.
Counselling differs from person to person and depends on your issue, therapy goals, frequency of sessions and commitment to the therapeutic process. Some people experience a significant difference after a few sessions while others require more long-term support. At all times you are in control of your counselling journey and if you feel therapy is not working for you, please discuss this with me.
Once your booking has been confirmed, you need to complete a New Client Agreement form and return it. Make sure you read it thoroughly, complete all the required information, and sign it. Then you need to pay for your session.
To get the most out of the counselling session it is important to organise to be in a place that is private, where you won't be interrupted. Knowing that your conversation is confidential will result in the best outcome. Test your technology and do your best to be in a comfortable position to engage, free from distractions. You might want to be prepared to take notes during the session.
At times you may need to cancel or postpone your appointment. More than 24 hours notice is required for cancellations to receive a full refund. If you provide less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation you will be refunded 50% of your full consultation fee. If you fail to attend an appointment and provide no notice you will not receive a refund. Exceptional circumstances may be considered.
If you are Self-managed or Plan Managed, you can access Softfall Counselling services through the NDIS. This could involve increasing your resilience and decision-making abilities to help you manage life changes, or coaching to improve your social skills and motivation to foster positive connections with others. Check that your plan includes funding for Capacity Building Support - Improved Daily Living.
